As a member of a prominent news organization, you may have been following and possibly covering the ongoing conflict in the Gaza Strip.
In a short period of time, the Israeli army has succeeded in killing more than 800 Palestinians, is some of the most horrific conditions, some comparing Gaza to the Warsaw Ghetto.
In it attacks on Gaza, Israeli army killed civilians, and targeted civilian population centers, homes of people taking shelter, schools where internally displaced persons were sheltering, ambulances rescuing to save the survivors, and UN aid mission and the Red Cross. Already in 2006, Israel had targeted clearly marked Red Cross ambulances in Lebanon.
In Gaza, Israeli troops had forced Palestinian civilians to stay in their homes after taking them over as sniper positions or bases. This practice by Israeli army seems to be the rule.
Pro-Israeli war crimes groups and blogs, such as honestreporting.com and exposingliberallies.blogspot.com, immediately defended the attack on a school, and (counter) attacked the media, ignoring the United Nations denial of Israel Defense Forces claims that there were Palestinian militants in the Gaza school bombed by Israel.
Christopher Gunness of the UN Relief and Works Agency (UNRWA) said the organization is 99.9 percent certain there were no militants or military activity in its school. In an interview, he said that there was an attack at another school called Asma, “when three refugees went out into the compound of the school. They actually went to the toilet block in order to, you know, use the facilities. On their way back at 11:30 at night, there was a direct strike on the school compound, and they were killed, tragically, in that. So, again, we’re calling for an impartial investigation. We want the facts to come out. We want accountability.”
A Norwegian doctor in Gaza, told Sky News that the number of civilians injured and killed in Gaza proves that Israel is deliberately attacking the population. And in complete disregard for human life and as a proof of its incompetence, the Israeli army has kept the video on the Internet, showing the brutal murdered of 8 civilians including 4 children, under the title IAF and IN Forces Strike Hamas.
Therefore, I would like to ask the following questions:
How can mass murder be justified? The argument of “they started it” does not stand when a fact check is done.
Doesn’t 800 killed qualify as mass murder? Can someone believe that Israel killed 300 children (out of 800 Palestinians) by mistake?
How can 60 years of Israeli massacres of Palestinians bring, one day, security for Israel?
If China bombs a UN school in Tibet and kills 40 children, would someone believe that it was a mistake?
Most importantly, why is the American media so biased in the coverage of the Israeli – Palestine conflict?
It is my hope that your news organization may rise to the occasion to accurately report on what is happening to Gaza and to the Palestinians, and to distinguish between propaganda (Hasbara) and facts.
